our story

In 1984, Pasquale left his home in Naples, Italy and emigrated to Brooklyn, NY, in search of the American dream and great Italian food. For a few years he worked with his family at an Italian restaurant and in 1988, he opened his own pizzeria in Jackson, NJ. In 1990, he and his brother, Vincenzo, bought Dusal’s Restaurant in Milltown, NJ. This was where he met his wife Trisha, and together they opened Casa Giuseppe, a fine dining Italian restaurant in Iselin. They sold Dusal’s and then, in 2012 built and opened Pasquale Brick Oven Pizza with Vinny and Trisha. Craftsman Joe Calcagno from Staten Island spent 41 days building the traditional brick oven. They sold this restaurant in 2014, but coming full circle, re-purchased it in 2023, along with partners, Jessica Waite and Yovany Martinez.
Yovany (Gio) had been making pizza at Pasquale Brick Oven since May of 2012. One day in December of that same year, Jessica walked in the door and began working here as a server and covering the front desk. By 2014, Yovany had moved on to a different employer, but stayed in touch with Jessica, and their relationship evolved. Jessica continued at Pasquale, advancing to the position of Manager and learning all aspects of the restaurant business. Yovany was simultaneously acting as restaurant manager for his employer. Together, Jess and Gio worked hard and shared a dream of someday owning their own restaurant. One day, in the summer of 2023, that dream came true when they joined Pasquale and formed this restaurant management team, dedicated to bringing you the very best homemade, delicious Italian food.
